Description
Practical sprout tower in three floors, where you can grow different sprouts in each tray or grow your favorite sprouts in varying sprout stages so that there are always fresh sprouts for meals. Made by Tuscan artisans.
The Terracotta Sprouter is the latest GEO Sprouter. An innovative distance system for light / darkness so that the amount of light can be regulated for the best growing conditions. The trays are spaced to allow air and light through each level. The trays can easily be inserted into each other with a top cover to close and create a dark and humid environment. The 3 bowls have small holes in the bottom to ensure good drainage. The product's porous surface also ensures good moisture for the sprouts.
Cleaning: Products made of unglazed earthenware are cleaned in hand-warm water with washing-up liquid or hand-warm water with a little vinegar added. Not machine washable.
When you talk about growing sprouts today, it's a lot more than a few sprouts of cress for the egg food grown in a cress pig!
Sprouts are an extremely good dietary supplement, especially in the winter months, as they have a rich content of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, protein and much more, depending on the type of sprout. In general, they are also very low in fat.
Sprouts can be used in many ways. Traditionally they are used in salads, but they are also excellent in wok dishes, sandwiches, hot toasts/paninis or lightly roasted in, for example, olive oil and tossed in pesto and served over a pasta dish... Only creativity sets the limits.
Cultivation:
Generally, the seeds are soaked overnight (for some varieties, however, this is not necessary). The next day they are spread out in the sprout trays. Keep in mind that the sprouts will quadruple in size during germination. Therefore, do not pour too many seeds into the same tray. Then let them germinate in a bright place with good ventilation at room temperature. Rinse the sprouts 2-3 times a day until they are completely sprouted.
When growing very small seeds, you can advantageously place a piece of a coffee bag or a piece of cheesecloth. (item number 1011) at the bottom of the trays until the seeds have started and germinate so that there is no risk of the seeds being washed away during the rinsing.
Storage:
Sprouts can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, depending on the type of sprout. They are best stored in a sprouting bag (see more options by searching 4201 and 4202), as when stored in a plastic bag or closed box they cannot breathe and can therefore become slimy and spoil. In a sprouting bag, the sprouts can breathe and at the same time the material retains moisture. The bag also protects the sprouts from light. The sprout bag can be closed with the sewn-in ribbon.
Height when light is open: 24 cm
