Description
Flaxseed sprouts full of anti-oxidants and good for cleansing the body of impurities. Also contains a good portion of fibre, which has a positive effect on the digestive system. Good for keeping cholesterol levels down. The Omega 3 fatty acid content should also have positive effects on high blood pressure.
Sprouts are an extremely good dietary supplement, especially in the winter months, as they have a rich content of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, protein and much more depending on the type of sprout. In general, they are also very low in fat.
Sprouts can be used in many ways. Traditionally they are used in salads, but they are also excellent in wok dishes, sandwiches, hot toasts/paninis or lightly roasted in, for example, olive oil and tossed in pesto and served over a pasta dish. Only creativity sets limits.
Cultivation:
Flaxseed does not require the usual soaking time. Simply rinse the seeds in water, sprinkle them into the grow tray, then set them to germinate. Since these seeds can become a little sticky, they are best grown in a tray (see product number 4200). Let the seeds germinate in a dark room at room temperature until the first green sprouts appear. Then place in a bright and well-ventilated room. Rinse the sprouts 1-2 times daily. They should only be rinsed lightly and not immersed in water for a long time.
Flaxseed sprouts are ready in 5-7 days.
Storage
Sprouts can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. They are best stored in a sprouting bag (see more options by searching 4201 and 4202), as when stored in a plastic bag or closed box they cannot breathe and can therefore become slimy and spoil. In a sprouting bag, the sprouts can breathe and at the same time the material retains moisture. The bag also protects the sprouts from light. The sprout bag can be closed with the sewn-in ribbon.
