Description
An alcohol meter is used to monitor the concentration of alcohol when making, for example, spiced schnapps that has not yet been mixed with a sugar solution.
A prerequisite for a good result, however, is that the final measurement results are noted down, so that you can achieve the same concentration next time. Clean the alcohol meter and the plastic cylinder with hot water and wipe them with a cloth. After cleaning, the alcohol meter must only be held at the thin end above the paper scale. Then pour the pure alcohol mixture into the measuring cylinder.
Length : 26.8 cm
Remember to buy a measuring cylinder for use with the alcohol meter, see item no. 3019.
When using the measuring cylinder, item no. 3019, the liquid level must not reach higher than max. 5 cm from the top edge. Then cover the hole with the palm of your hand and shake the contents back and forth approx. 5 times. Then lower the alcohol meter slowly into the liquid so that it floats freely. Read at eye level at the point where the thin part protrudes above the liquid, i.e. level with the liquid surface. When measuring, the liquid being tested must have the same temperature as stated on the alcohol meter (20 deg. C). If the alcohol mixture is warmer than 20 deg. C, the meter shows too high an alcohol percentage, and if the alcohol mixture is colder than 20 deg. C, it shows too low an alcohol percentage.
As a rule of thumb, for every degree the liquid is above 20 deg. C, 0.3 % must be subtracted, and for every degree the liquid is below 20 deg. C, 0.3 % must be added.
Note:
- Cannot be used for wine, beer and fortified wines. For these you can, for example, use a vinometer, item no. 3007.
